Autocharge

What is Autocharge?

Autocharge is a technology that enables you to charge your electric vehicle without a charging card or credit card.

Simply plug your vehicle into an Autocharge-compatible charging station, and the station will automatically recognize it.

All charges made with Autocharge will be billed to your Chargemap account without any additional fees.

This service is only available on fast charging stations operating with direct current (DC).

Important: While Autocharge allows you to charge without a card, you must have already ordered, received, and activated a Chargemap Pass to use this technology.

How does it work?

Activating Autocharge creates a link between your vehicle and your Chargemap account.

When you plug your vehicle into an Autocharge-compatible station using Chargemap, it will be automatically recognized. Charging will then start, and billing will occur via your Chargemap account.

Autocharge is a feature available if your vehicle is compatible with Autocharge.

To check if your vehicle is compatible with Autocharge, visit the Chargemap app! Compatibility information can be found in the vehicle list.

Note that you must own the vehicle personally and not use a shared rental.

Which charging networks are Autocharge-compatible?

The charging station must belong to an Autocharge-compatible network with Chargemap.

The feature will launch exclusively with Powerdot on fast charging stations with Combo CCS.

To check the list of Autocharge-compatible stations, go to the app's Map tab, then select Powerdot network stations by applying the "Only selected networks" filter.

Activate Autocharge for your Chargemap account

Activating Autocharge is done during a regular charging session and will be effective starting with the next session.

If you have at least one Autocharge-compatible vehicle listed in your Chargemap app, you’ll be eligible to activate Autocharge via Chargemap.

  1. Visit a fast charging station that supports Autocharge via Chargemap, initially with Powerdot.
  2. Plug in your vehicle.
  3. Use the Chargemap Pass to start a charging session.
  4. Watch for a notification on your phone and/or by email, and click on it to be redirected to the Chargemap app.
  5. Follow the activation process by confirming your vehicle and accepting the general terms of service.

Your vehicle will then be linked to your Chargemap account for Autocharge sessions and will be active from the next charging session!

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I activate Autocharge on Chargemap for a second vehicle?

Yes, simply follow the activation process again to link a new vehicle.

Can I activate Autocharge for multiple providers simultaneously?

No, activating Autocharge creates a unique link between a vehicle and a charging provider, in this case, Chargemap. If Autocharge is already activated with another provider, you will need to deactivate it with them before activating it on Chargemap.

How do I know if my vehicle is Autocharge-compatible?

In the mobile app, go to "Account" > "Vehicles" to check the list of vehicles registered to your Chargemap account. A note will indicate if your vehicle is Autocharge-compatible. If your vehicle is compatible but not flagged as such in our system, contact our support team to correct this issue.

How can I find Autocharge-compatible stations?

Currently, you can filter for the "Powerdot" network and select fast or ultra-fast charging stations. A specific "Autocharge-Compatible" filter will soon be available in the search options.

Does Autocharge replace the Chargemap Pass?

No, you will still need an active account and a physical Chargemap Pass. However, you don’t need to carry it with you all the time.

Does Autocharge work if my Chargemap Pass is deactivated?

No, unless the Pass has been deactivated due to loss or theft. In other cases, such as unpaid bills or a blocked contract, Autocharge will not function.

Does Autocharge replace charging via the mobile app?

No, Autocharge is a separate authentication method, like the physical card or starting a session via the app. However, it is often faster and simpler than using the mobile app.

What is the difference between Plug and Charge and Autocharge?

  • Plug and Charge: Operates via a secure certificate embedded in the vehicle, compatible with newer ISO 15118-compliant cars.
  • Autocharge: Identifies the vehicle using its unique identifier and works on DC fast chargers, even with older vehicles.
